A pro-life group whose first two television commercials were rejected by NBC and CNN has unveiled a new ads that promote the potential of human life. The ads feature clips of astronaut Neil Armstrong and they have the support of top astronauts Dr. Joseph Kerwin and Gene Krantz.

Featuring video images of a 3-D ultrasound of an unborn baby, a message shows saying, "At 5 weeks, his heart will beat, at 9 weeks his feet will form, at 80 weeks he will take his first step."

'Hate-Crimes' Bill Covering Gays, Pedophiles Could Get Senate Vote Today

The U.S. Senate is expected to vote as early as July 16 on hate crimes legislation that not only would expand protections for homosexuals and transgendered people but could threaten religious freedom.

The measure was introduced July 15 as an amendment to the National Defense Authorization Act, S. 1390, and the Southern Baptist Convention's public policy entity quickly issued an e-mail alert urging opposition to the proposal.

Anti-Religious Group Sues to Block 'In God We Trust' Engraving

The nation's largest association of atheists and agnostics filed a federal lawsuit Tuesday to stop the engraving of "In God We Trust" and the Pledge of Allegiance at the Capitol Visitor Center in Washington.

The Madison, Wis.-based Freedom From Religion Foundation (FFRF) argues that the government's funding of the engraving - which they claim could cost up to $150,000 - "will give actual and apparent government endorsement and advancement of religion," while excluding nonreligious Americans.

Smuggling Abortion Agenda Into Healthcare Reform

If passed, two healthcare reform bills could mean more abortions at taxpayers' expense.

The two primary measures -- the Kennedy bill and the House Democratic leadership bill -- contain provisions that would represent the greatest expansion of abortion since the Supreme Court legalized it in 1973, according to Douglas Johnson of the National Right to Life Committee.

A California court has ruled in favor of a student who was insulted for defending traditional marriage and has ordered the college to strike from its website

a sexual harassment policy that censors speech deemed "offensive" to homosexual people.

As WND reported, Jonathan Lopez, a student at Los Angeles City College, was delivering a speech on his Christian faith in speech class when professor John Matteson interrupted him, called him a "fascist b----rd" for mentioning a moral conviction against homosexual marriage and later told him to "ask God what your grade is."

New Campaign Offers Public Schools Helpful Lessons in Religious Liberty

Public school students, teachers, and parents will get a civics lesson on free speech this fall thanks to the National Free to Speak Campaign.  Gateways to Better Education and the Alliance Defense Fund are working together to promote greater awareness of the U.S. Department of Education's guidelines on students' freedom of religious expression in public schools.

"Students have the liberty to express their faith at school," said Gateways to Better Education President Eric Buehrer.  "One of the most important civics lessons all students should learn is that freedom of religious expression is a fundamental right of all Americans, and, as the U.S. Supreme Court has stated, this freedom does not end at the schoolhouse gate."
